Let’s throw this out there right away: texting and driving is bad news. We all want to keep tabs on our phones at all time, but let’s face it, if you’re driving a vehicle, that is literally the worst possible time you could be checking Facebook. Luckily, if you continue to feel the urge despite my warnings, there is a solution. The ultimate Texting and Driving simulator, Text and Drive: Friendship Never Dies: Journey on the Endless Road! (Or TaD: FND: JotER for short.)
The concept is simple. You’re driving down a dark highway at night and texting a friend at the same time. Using the mouse, you must steer to avoid hitting other vehicles or the side of the road. You also have an important conversation going on, and to send texts you must click coloured shapes in a pattern sequence. The frenzied multitasking plays something like Enviro-Bear 2000 mixed with some bizarre puzzle game.
There are a million things to love about this game. The excellent writing, the hilarious radio DJ, the absolutely fantastic ending. I became way too excited when I realized the text conversation changes every time you restart the game. The characters are weird, but feel like real people, and you’ll fall in love with them almost immediately.
What else is there to say about this amazing game? I can’t say much more without giving it away. Play it! Play it now! And try not to crash!
